Flexible materials manufacturer Web Industries Inc. will invest $6 million to expand its factory in Suwanee, Ga., creating 25 engineering and technician jobs.
The company is betting on increased demand for composites used to make military and commercial aircraft. The Atlanta facility, which will be expanded to 250,000 square feet from about half that size, will process materials for tape used in Boeing Co.'s 787 Dreamliner, the massive aircraft set for delivery late this year to airlines around the world after two years of delays.
The expansion includes a new composite materials research and development center. The enlarged facility will be the Marlborough, Mass.-based company's largest in North America.
Web Industries' materials are used in a variety of products, from diapers to communications cable and medical devices.
