Tyco International Ltd., a security and fire-protection products giant with head offices in Switzerland, has opened a distribution facility in Lithia Springs, Ga.

The Tyco Safety Products unit will ship fire-detection, fire-suppression and electronic-security products throughout the U.S. and around the world from the 205,000-square-foot center.

The facility employs 125 people, bringing Tyco's total employment to 900 in 16 Georgia locations.

Tyco International works in 60 countries and has 100,000 employees worldwide. In 2009, it had sales of more than $17 billion.
