United Parcel Service Inc. has appointed Clark "Sandy" Randt, who served as U.S. ambassador to China for more than seven years under President George W. Bush, to its board of directors.
Mr. Randt, 64, an attorney by trade, has 30 years of experience in Asia. He and his wife live in Hong Kong, where he formerly served as first vice president of the local American Chamber of Commerce and spent eight years as a partner at the law firm Shearman & Sterling LLP.
He is currently president of Randt & Co. LLC, which advises firms working in China.
Mr. Randt will serve as an appointed member of the UPS board until May, when he will stand for election to a one-year term at the company's annual shareholders meeting.
