Atlanta-based Wendy's/Arby's Group Inc. this week announced separate deals to open more than 200 restaurants in Russia and the Caribbean.
In Russia, the company has reached an agreement with Wenrus Restaurant Group Ltd., which plans to open 180 dual-branded Wendy's/Arby's restaurants in the country over the next 10 years. Neither brand has had a presence in Russia before. Moscow-based Wenrus is a unit of Food Service Capital, which operates 28 restaurants, including a steakhouse chain with a global presence.
Wendy's/Arby's International will also work with a franchisee to develop 24 Wendy's restaurants in nine countries in the Caribbean over the next decade, starting next year in Trinidad and Tobago and moving to Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Grenada, Guyana, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, St. Vincent and Suriname.
The Wendy's/Arby's system has 10,000 restaurants in the U.S. and 24 other countries.
